Accidents and Injuries

Hi folks - it's been a while.

The main reason for this is due to a wee accident I had whilst celebrating my friends 40th up in the Isle of Mull.  A perfect setting at Glengorm Castle; perfect weather with blue, blue skies; fantastic entertainment and company... then I slipped at 3am on a wet floor with silly shoes on and that was the end of that.

I broke my wrist in 2 places and had lots of wee fragments too.  I don't know how bad that is as far as broken bones go, but as I have never broken anything before (despite spending most of my youth climbing trees and jumping off roofs) it seemed pretty bad to me.  After a bit of gas and air at the local Hospital (thank you Dunaros), it was reset and a backslab (I didn't know what that was either) put on, we got the ferry back to the mainland and headed home.  I also was awarded a certificate for bravery - not bad eh?

I have to say now that I have some fantastic friends - you know who you are, and a wonderful wonderful husband who helped me out with cakes that first week.  I really couldn't do anything - try holding one hand behind you back for a whole week and you will see!  Anyway, I managed to fulfill all existing orders that week as a result.
After a week we headed off to the South of France for a holiday.  Shame I couldn't use the pool at all, BUT (big but) instead I had to just lie on a sun lounger and read all day - shame!  And I thought buttering bread with one hand was hard - try cutting a french stick!

Anyway, I managed to spend the week sampling lots of french delights instead - all in the name of work of course.  No cupcakes, but delicious flans, pastries, cakes etc and the Vin Rose - never been one for rose before, but the Provence stuff was just wonderful!
Back home and I got a full cast on - pink with glitter of course.  And cupcakes getting much easier - I can now crack an egg one handed!  Delivery is still not available unfortunately, and I have to really really thank Colin for his numerous trips to Motherwell supplying Prego Cafe and the Rainforest.
The cast came off yesterday, and my wrist hurts more than ever, but apparently that will fade within a week - fingers crossed.

Anyway, in the meantime, I have not been just lying round on the sofa - I wish.  I have been very busy establishing my new business, which ties in with cupcakes nicely.  I have bought myself an edible printer and launched www.mycupcaketoppers.co.uk.  I think the name speaks for itself, but just in case, we make edible toppers for cakes and cupcakes. Both rice paper (£1 per sheet) and fondant icing (£5 per sheet).  It is going really well so far, so if you are far away and can't get to My Cupcake Heaven - bake your own and get some toppers from us instead.

That's all for now folks - I'll try not to leave it so long next time.

Anna xx
